Looks a good unit.

I bought this as it was clear in the winter with low sun and many overcast days, solar power was insufficient. The unit is very well made - far better than cheap 'wall warts' which does help to justify it's high price. It was easy to fit and works well as far as I can tell. The unit arrived very quickly (next day) and well packed. Overall a good unit and good delivery.

Thank you for your review John which we greatly appreciate. We've worked with our suppliers to ensure that the power supply meets all the UK and EU standards and is a fused adapter when used in the UK unlike most 'wall warts'.

Constant Power

I brought this as my batteries failed in my WS90,
I then had to replace the batteries while getting the ladder out trying to manoeuvre to replace the batteries and I thought they got to be a easier way to do this so I don’t have to keep getting the ladder out.
I looked on the website and found this I ordered it and the delivery was super quick as it arrived the next day.
I wired it in as it’s only I little plug attached the other end of the wire to the transformer and plugged the transformer into the wall and hey presto it’s come to life with no batteries needed.
I should have brought this when I was setting up my weather station to save a lot of hassle.
Believe me it’s worth the buy :-}

The review suggested that this also does away with the need to replace batteries. Is this the case or do I also need to order the battery extension cable?

It's recommended that bateries are still used as a backup in case of a power failure. Some customers do decide that they will risk this as the WS90 will work without these.

Is there any way of checking that the heater power supply for the Ecowitt Ultrasonic anemometer WS90 is operating?

With the heater running, it will turn on below 3C warming the area where the metal mesh is located to 10C before turning off. When running this area will not have snow or ice settling. You may feel a slight warming in this area, depending on the ambeient air temperature it may be difficult. Or a electricity monitoring power socket will record this as working.

The WS90 is not designed to have to top section where the rain sensor or lower louvres where the temperature and humidity sensor is located heated.
